Learning occurs in a safe, sure environment that not only cultivates creativity but also a sense of responsibility, ownership, and pride. My goal as an educator is to have students reach their full potential as learners in my classroom and encourage their potential as lifelong learners in the world.
As a teacher I must know my students well. I am their guide and must know when to step in and assist--and also when to step back and let them discover. There are multiple intelligences. No child is devoid of one or the other; they possess all with certain strengths. It is the teacher's role to know which process suits each student to produce the final goal of learning the lesson and knowing the TEKS. It's important to be flexible; when one strategy doesn't work consistently, try something else. Have options--but not such a variety that sparks chaos.

Students will learn to hold their heads high, knowing without a doubt that knowledge is empowerment. Knowledge never stops, which is why I will also never stop learning more. I must always gather information from fellow teachers, administrators, professional development opportunities, and education gurus for strategies and techniques.
